Skin tone: Pale-to-average, gets a bunch of freckles during the summer instead of tanning.
Hair: Short and paler blonde, whispy-cut. Either left flat and sideswept or spiked just a little.
Eyes Darker blue, smaller in his face.
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 125 lbs.
Body Type: Really slender, but not quite to the point of being called really "skinny" or anything. He's just built light.
Other He's got a big tan birthmark on his right hip, and a few scars on his hands and knees from previous falls when running. He always has little notes written on his hands in pen to help him remember things.
Who I Am Inside
Likes: -Running. He's extremely good at it, joining track teams and topping competitions. A lot of it is natural talent, which gains him a few enemies from those who work their asses off and are still left behind by him.
-Food. Thanks to his constant running, Arty's always hungry, and eats massive amounts of food. If he stopped running for whatever reason, he'd probably gain a ton of weight. He's not very picky at all and will eat nearly everything you give to him.
-Gossip and secrets. Arty's super nosy, always poking himself in to things that rarely involve him. Some people find him annoying for getting in to their business and refusing to let things go, other people find it awesome as he's practically a goldmine of information because of it.
-Sports. Arty plays as many sports as he can during the year. He's not the best at sports that require really good hand-eye coordination or heavy weight (football, tennis, rugby, baseball etc.) but excels at those that more focus on quick movement (soccer, hockey, track, swim racing etc.)
-Funny things. Arty's got a good sense of humor, and if something has comedy in it such as books, movies, etc., he'll usually like it more than the same thing but with serious themes.
Dislikes: -The teachers who (he thinks) think they're hot shit. If they want respect from him, they gotta earn it.
-People who are better at him than running. He's super competitive, and if someone even comes close to matching his speed, they're earning heavy death glares from him whenever he sees them. He'll sometimes overwork himself when he meets these people, trying to do whatever he can to come out on top again.
-Showing any sort of big affection. It just makes him feel awkward; the most he'll do is fistbump his friends. Even people he hasn't seen in a long time, or that mean a lot to him, will only earn a wary hug in public. It takes a long time and a lot of trust to earn anything more.
-Downcast days. He loves the sun, and downcast days just make him groggy and listless. On days with worse weather, his friends know to walk lightly around him, as he can get snappish over small things (he'll feel bad and apologize after the few minutes it takes for him to realize he's done it).
-Smaller forest animals, like squirrels and moles. They freak him out. If any of the local squirrels get too close, he'll lose his composure and start climbing up on stuff or running around to avoid it, and then gets pissed and embarrassed for making such a scene over a fluffy-tailed rat.
Strengths: -Quick speed. It's not often people can catch him when chasing him if he really doesn't want them to.
-Good at getting out of things. Arty's got a suave personality and has skill in worming his way out of punishments or responsibilities placed on him.
-Knows everything worth knowing about everyone. Nearly every time he meets someone, he has at least two reasons in his mind to say 'I've heard of you before'. It makes it easy for him to get a good idea of how he's going to get along with someone, and he's always helpful to his friends by giving them good information for their needs if it involves people they haven't met.
-Pretty intuitive. While normally he gives responses that meet expectations for his age when faced with problems, every so often he gives a little quip or action that surprises everyone and shows he is, to some extent, a little wise beyond his years. It's usually something that also implies he's got a realistic moral attitude.
-Not afraid to stand up for himself. If punishment happens, it happens. He'll get his opinion out there no matter what, and won't back down from it unless he's truly proved to be wrong. It's left some teachers to label him as 'rebellious' and 'stubborn', while also giving him the ammunition to say that they just want to turn him in to a mindless drone following orders. Stricter teachers are not the most fond of Arty, really.
Weaknesses: -Slightly bad hand-eye coordination. This is caused by a wacky sense of depth perception from an eye injury he had as a child (fell face-first on to a pile of Legos-The people who have only stepped on those don't know SHIT). It's not enough for him to be unable to function in any situations, it's just enough that he's not the best with aim or really fine/defined work like tracing things or ships-in-the-bottle.
-Sore loser. Thanks to his high competitiveness, Arty can be a really sore loser, scowling for a few days after a loss of a race and acting bitter towards the person(s) that came out on top of him.
-Can be too distant in relationships. Because of his dislike for offering affection, people who aren't very good at understanding that probably won't have the easiest relationship with him. If they're too forward, he'll tell them off, whereas if they try to compensate by being too distant themselves, he'll either settle with never making a move and they'll eventually get bored of each other, or he'll wonder if he actually means anything to them (knowing that most people will naturally automatically show more affection than him) and break it off for fear of being used.
-Sometimes gets too involved in gossip. Gossip can corrupt the best of people, and while Arty isn't necessarily corrupted by it himself, if he finds someone who as far as he knows is a trustworthy person, he'll tell them what they want to know. It will sometimes come back to bite him in the ass if said person uses the information received for less-than-moral means. He doesn't feel inclined to stop involving himself with the 'juicy deets' because of it (addiction is a powerful thing), but he will feel bad for the wronged person and try to fix what gets screwed up for them.
-Dramatic. If he gets upset over something, Arty will make it seem at least twice as bad as it is. It doesn't last long; once he gets his moaning and groaning out he'll start acting more realistic and figure things out. He just needs his moment to let off steam. It can still be annoying either way.
Fears: -Finding out every one of his friends secretly hate him. He wishes he could get over the fear because sometimes it gives him trust issues, but he can't help himself.
-Never getting a relationship because of his distance issues. He'd like one; they just have to take their time and let him adjust.
-Getting expelled. He gets in trouble a lot, and while he doesn't mind that, if he ever gets expelled he'll have to find some place to live on his own. No way his parents would let him go home after THAT, they expect much more from him.
Personality: Arty acts like a snarky ass, usually. He's got a blunt attitude and high self-esteem that can give people the impression of a holier-than-thou attitude, though he only really thinks like that about those he runs track against (or those that make themselves out to be "obvious" idiots). He loves to joke and use sarcasm, though he is able to be serious in situations that he thinks requires it. He's "blameless" (notice the quotes) as he weasels out of things easily even if he's obviously the one who deserves punishment over it. If you're friends with him then he'll treat you well, as long as you respect his boundaries and don't brag too much (even with his competitiveness, he thinks actions speak louder than words, and tries not to brag because of it. Bragging is just hot air in his eyes). While he won't really hold himself higher than you, he also won't hold himself lower, no matter what you have going for you. You're equals until you prove you're worth more or less.
Where I Began
Mother: Arty's mother's name is Sherrie, a firm but kind woman who works at a craft supplies store as a cashier and stocker.
Father: Arty's father's name is Mason, a strong quiet-type of guy who works as an architect.
Siblings: Arty's got an older sister named Lise who doesn't want to go out-of-state for school, and a younger brother named Andy who's not yet old enough to go to Arty's school.
Other Relatives: He's got a grandmother named Ruth, but she's a mean old woman who smells like dust that he hasn't seen in a few years. She dislikes Lise and Arty, instead choosing to dote on Andy who's absolutely terrified of her.
Pets: Lise has a snake named Jacob at home, and after Arty started going to Yen Sid Academy his parents got a little west highland terrier named Maxwell.
Friends: N/A yet.
History: Arty grew up in Salem Massachusetts, with an upper-middle class family in a good sized house. He had a good amount of friends there, and was somewhat popular. As he reached middle school, his parents wanted the best for their children, and decided that they would try to go with private schools, picking out a small list and letting their children decide between them. Arty and Lise picked out the same local private middle school, Andy still having no options for private yet at his young age. After going through middle school (getting average grades, he really didn't care much for classes) Arty decided that he wanted more freedom than he was getting, and chose an out-of-state boarding school called Yen Sid Academy. Lise chose to stay in state, sticking with the private high school that followed their middle school. Andy's in 8th grade in the middle school his siblings went to, though he's planning to transfer to Arty's school once he's a freshman. Arty continually gets average grades at Yen Sid, but enjoys it much more than living at home, liking the ultimate sense of freedom (even though he knows it's still regulated).

Time Zone EST, I'm on the East coast of the US. I'm likely going to be on all the time, working it around school.
Writing Sample: "This running, man?" fingers tapping the mic, Tobes tipped his head back to the freshman fiddling with the wires. The performers hadn't even started their final practice and things were already behind schedule. Sigh-worthy, but usual business; much worse things had happened to Tobes before in the field than just getting stuck with a bunch of clueless freshmeat to prep with. At least the main performers skirt hadn't ripped down her ass. Yet.
"You're good to go!" the eager kid gave him a thumbs-up, taking pride in himself that he wasn't completely useless. It was almost cute really, just how excited the newer kids got to do something so simple. Tobes smiled before turning back to the mic, rattling off a few lyrics of a song in his lightly gritty, not-good-not-bad tenor. "Sing like you think no one's listening, you would kill for this, just a little bit..." Another smile escaped, and a snort as the freshman tentatively clapped. Walking back, Tobes gave the kid a fistbump for the help, and sent him off to work with the lighting. Even with the not-so-good start to the evening, he was still happy; this was his place, the zone where he just felt like a big part of everything. Life was good.
