To be perfectly honest, Simon and Amber were a little out of place in the Theatre department. It had started as a joke between them that they would sign up for several theatre classes and join the theatre clubs. They had honestly expected to get kicked out with in a couple hours. But they were there, and though neither of them would admit it, it was kind of fun. As hard as they tried to maintain their characteristic apathy about the entire thing, they were looking forward to musical auditions.
They dissuaded this uncharacteristic enthusiasm by showing up late to the auditions. With no apology, Amber filled out the form for the audition:
Name: Simon and Amber Katz Grade: Sophomore Part Auditioning for: Surprise Us Song choice: Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer - Cats Conflicts: None.
Before slipping in to the back row. They sat close together, leaning in to whisper back and fourth about the other auditioners. Simon struggled not to laugh at his sister's comments about the little blonde twins. They'd considered using the same song. Now they were glad they'd chosen something that fit them a little better. "Well, at least they wore nice shoes…"

Victoria walked into the theater just as the Twins finished. Those little traitors. She glared at them and waited for them to take their seats. She slowly walked up behind them and grabbed their ears which she knew had recently had another hole added to them. "You auditioned without me you little freaks." She smiled evily "You will regret that when I don't help you next time takes your allowance." She then pushed their heads together and went away with a smile and handed in her already filled out sheet. Smiling she sat down in a seat next to the twins.
She smiled and waited for her turn. She was sure to ace this audition, how could she not. She had the best teachers since she could talk. And it isn't what you know it's who you know. She wanted to be the witch, I mean isn't that what everyone saw her as anyway? How could she not get that part? She would rock it. She looked around to see the competition.
Name: Victoria Hart Grade: Junior Part Auditioning for: Evilene Song choice: No Good Deed Conflicts: None.

Mini bounded up the steps to the stage when she heard her name called. She was so excited. She was going to get to audition. She watched the twins audition. They were so good. At least she thought they were. She bounced up and down on her toes, her crinoline bouncing. She made sure her converses were tied and that the bow in her hair was in place. It was her favorite red one. She had tied it in a large bow. What were the words to her song again? Oh my gosh she couldn't remember. Wait. What was her song? What was she going to do? She couldn't screw this up. She refused. She was going to be great. Suddenly she remembered her song. It was Firework. Her favorite song. She bounced remembering it in her head. Ok. She could do this. She took a step forward wanting to go next. She handed her sheet music to the piano player, thanking him and took a step forward. "My name is Mini Maus and I will be singing Firework." She bounced on her toes as the piano started. She got so into it, facial expression and hand gestures and everything. She gave it everything she had. When she finished she smiled and curtsied then jumped off the stage going back to the front row.

Thomas watched attentively as the theatre filled up. He was uncharactaristically nervous at this point, and a quick glance at the clock on the wall told him that the auditions where already running twenty minutes late. He jumped when Professor Hootford suddenly shouted something about being innocent. The humor of the moment effectively eased some of his nervousness, and he decided to relax until his name was called. Finally, Professer Jinn stood up and called the first audition group. He smiled excitedly when he heard his name called. He waited patiently for some others to audition. The Tweedy twins did pretty well with their duet playing to their strengths, and Mini Maus had a good performance as well. After she finished, Thomas stood up and headed to the stage. Looking out at the others gave him a rush that only performing in front of an audience could ever give. He wondered if any of them where auditioning for the scarecrow part. He waited a moment before nodding for his music to start. When he started to sing his song, Man in the Mirror, it was as though there was only him and the audience in his mind. He was definitely in his element here, on stage. It was something he had always loved since he was a small child. He supposed his experience with performing may give him a slight advantage over some of the others, but he didn't count on that to win him a part. He put a lot into his performance, and when he finished, he was brought back to reality. "Thank you." he said before returning to his seat in the audience. His eyes were shining with excitement as the auditions continued.

Vanessa sat with her head resting in one hand as the other hand shuffled papers and wrote on them. She was fairly uninterested with the vocal auditions yet she had to sit through them, grin and bear it so to speak. Despite this, she had only heard three auditions so far and she was already at her wits end. To make matters worse, the old coot had fallen asleep again and Jinn had been called away on "urgent business". She was running the auditions and they were dragging horrifically so. Furthermore, several of the kids had left, promising to come back and audition later. She was in no mood to wait until later. HELL she was in no mood to listen to them now.
With one last look at her watch, Vanessa turned to the teachers sitting at the table, most of which had nothing to do with picking a cast or had no braincells to do so as it seemed, looked at the almost empty audience of kids and made a verdict. Thank you everyone. The rest of you will be called back at a later date to audition, perhaps once things have slowed down a bit. This show is being postponed until further notice although I believe Professor Jinn may move this to the summer or the fall or I may take this over. Thank you for your interest and your time. We apologize for any inconvenience. Have a nice evening and see some of you in class tomorrow morning nice and early. With this stated, she slammed closed her folder of papers, stood up and sauntered out of the theater not looking back to see if any of the pitiful bunch had heard her or taken the blatantly obvious hint.
