Personality: Ian is very rude. He's full of snark and sarcasm and biting remarks, and he has no shame. He'll shout out whatever complaint or insult is on his mind at any time -- And do so very, very loudly. Ian is also clever, but doesn't put this to noble uses... Plotting and scheming are more his style. In addition, he is quite vain. One of Ian's even more notable traits, however, is his selfish greed. He loves gold -- or anything of value, really -- and loves to find ways to get ahead either in riches or in power that involve little hard work and a lot of being sneaky and/or deceitful. But no honest work -- Ian is very lazy. He's also a complete coward, and sometimes his fear will cause him to betray those he actually cares about. But despite all this, Ian is ultimately loyal... Or at least, he lets guilt get to him. Either way, he comes through for his friends in the end ninety per-cent of the time... And he can even be a decent friend on occasion. When Ian has a friend who he, for whatever reason, actually cares about, he is willing to do things for them... Just... Ideally things that don't require a lot of work, or any danger.

History: Iago Gold was born in Brooklyn, in New York, to Will and Nancy Gold. In early grade school, he quickly began shadowing the school bully, Jefery Vaze, looking for protection and the perks that came with having the school fear you... Or at least, fear the guy you were hanging out with. In short, Iago was kind of a jerk from the beginning.

But when he was started getting in more and more trouble over the years, his parents decided it was time to put him in a new environment, and his mother managed to relocate her work to New Hampshire, where Iago eventually was sent to attend Yen Sid Academy in hopes that it would reform the boy.

Writing Sample: (This is an expanded version of something I wrote in the past.)

Iago Gold generally didn't like spending time outside, but sometimes his roommate left him no other choice.

In other words, he'd been kicked out of the dorm once again. Oh, Iago wasn't the type to be pushed around -- sort of -- and he'd fought as best he could, but God, the kid was so annoying, sometimes he just wanted to give in to shut him up.

So. Sitting on the Quad, in the shade of a large oak tree. He had his book for whatever the heck literature class he was taking -- He really couldn't remember; he barely attended it. -- but he wasn't giving it much of a read. Instead, he sat around, being huffy and glowering at nothing in particular. He hated being at this stupid school.

At least, so he always said. Such was the act he always put on. The truth was, Iago had grown more in his one -- almost two, now -- years at Yen Sid Academy than he'd thought possible. He was becoming more independent... And even making friends. And though he'd never admit it easily?

Well, he liked that. He liked that a lot.
