Ozzy sat in the cafeteria at an empty table in the far end of the room. Today he was eating the caesar salad with a chocolate pudding and apple and sides and some iced tea. He had his headphones on and the Australian orchestra ringing in his ears. It reminded him of home and he was in the mood to tune out all the pointless chatter and gossip that was circulating around the cafeteria. WHy did he care who was dating who or what teacher was supposedly an FBI agent or what bookshelf in the library led to a secret chamber that had once been the torture chamber of the castle. All he wanted to do was sit, eat his lunch and have a bit of peace and quiet.
Ozzy had some books open and was working of some work as he ate his lunch in peace in the corner. He was oblivious to the world and he was enjoying it that way. He was never the best with people anyway. As he ate, he saw a shadow appear on the table. SOmeone sat next to him and he turned to see who it was, removing an earbud so as to hear the person. He did not recognize the boy but as he paused his music, all the sounds around him flooded back to his attention.
Ozzy had been taken out of his silent solitude. He was curious now. Who was this boy and why had he picked the loner out of all the tables full of kids in the room. Ozzy didn't mind, he was just confused. He looked at the boy and finally said one thing. I'm Ozzy. Who are you? The confused look never left his face as he stared at the boy through his sunglasses and waited for the boy to answer.

Goliath entered the lunch room and slowly looked around the lunch room for any of the few friends he had. He had only made three friends so far in school He had become friend with Alice Locke, Kim peters and Ariel Adamaris. He didn't see any of them. He sighed and just got in the lunch line and went through and got a Coke, A cheese burger and a slice of cheese cake and then looked around for a place to sit. As he looked he saw that there was a table where only one boy was sitting. Goliath decided to take Kim's advice and try and make friends. He went over to the table and sat down and then watched as the boy addressed him. He called himself Ozzy.
"Hello, My name is Goliath. You don't mind if I sit here do you? I don't know many people here. I am new and none of the three friends I have are here right now."
Goliath then went quiet and shifted over to the other side of the table so he could look Ozzy in the face. He saw that he had headphones and decided to start a conversation.
"So what were you listening too? Anything interesting? What ya eating? I got the burger and cheese cake and a coke."
Goliath then opened his Coke and took a sip and just nodded at Ozzy. He then remembered that they did have classes together. He had seen Ozzy before.
"I do know you. We have three classes together. We have wars of the world, Creative writing and Astronomy together. I sit in the very back right corner though so you probably didn't notice me. Oh I will be right back."
Goliath then stood up and went over to get a fork and a couple packets of ketchup and mayo and then sat back down and added the ketchup and mayo to his burger and took a bite and motioned for Ozzy to speak.

Ozzy looked closely at the boy and realized he vaguely recognized him for their shared classes. Ozzy frequented the far left corner in the back of the class whereas this boy, Goliath, took the back corner to the right. The emo corners of the classrooms as some people called it. He seemed like a bit of as loner like Ozzy was. But since he was trying to make friends, maybe he had assumed wrong.
Ozzy looked up from his food and began answering the boy the best he could. Anyone who knew Ozzy knew he was awkward and bad with words when he spoke them. "I was listening to an orchestra from back home. If you wanna sit there you can..."
Ozzy looked down at his food and than at Goliath. He felt he didn't need to answer what he was eating as it was sitting in front of him. If the kid asked again he would answer. Ozzy went back to eating in silence and than he decided to add "where are you from?" before falling silent again. If he wasn't going to be sitting alone he might as well try to get to know the boy. Not like he had much else to do.

Goliath sat and began to eat more of his burger with a smile as Ozzy told him what he was listening to and he nodded cause it sounded alright. Goliath then heard the boy ask where he was from so he swallowed his bite and set down his burger and wiped his mouth so he could speak.
"I am from Wyvern Scotland. It was the site of a huge event.. Look up the great Wyvern massacre and then my last name."
Goliath then sighed but put back on a small smile as he picked up his burger and finished it and then slid his slice of Cheese cake over to Ozzy. It was a form of friendship offering.
"You want this? I am kinda full so if you want it go right ahead. That burger was good though."
Goliath then sighed and frowned and looked down and remembered how they both sat in the corner and knew they both needed each other.
"I know..were both kind of alone..but if you want we could be lonely together..so it's not as bad? What do you say Ozzy?"

Ozzy looked down at the cake and than up at Goliath. Cake? Ozzy was not the biggest fan of cake but he did like cheesecake. He was confused though. Why had this boy given him his dessert? No one shared with him unless they were giving him pity and now this. He accepted the cake and took a bite as he listened to his new friend (?) talk.
Ozzy looked up at Goliath and held his stare. You... you want to be my friend? Ozzy was just starting to experience what friendship was like. It was an odd thing but he liked it. He had trouble grasping why this boy who barely knew him would want to be his friend but if he truly wanted to be part of Ozzy's depressing life, he would accept. Maybe than he wouldn't be alone.
"I would love to be your friend. Ozzy said enthusiastically and than his mood dropped as he thought that this might be a prank or pity once more. He didn't want a friend for pity and he would be crushed if this was a joke. And so eh forced himself to add Only if you truly want to be my friend. Otherwise just leave now. I don't want pity.
Ozzy refused to take another bite from the cake until he knew for sure. As silly as it sounded, this cake would be the sign of one of Ozzy's only friends and he refused to eat it and therefore accept unless he was sure this was real and he wouldn't be harmed. And so he sat and stared through his sunglasses, waiting in silence for the answer that could change everything.

Goliath smiled as Ozzy took the cake and smiled. He then chuckled gently as Ozzy doubted that Goliath wanted to be his friend. He then gave a thumbs up when Ozzy agreed to be his friend but dropped his hand when Ozzy assumed that he was joking. He just shook his head and sipped his coke.
"I am being serious Ozzy, I value friendship and Loyalty greatly. I would not say I wanted to be your friend unless I meant it. I will be your true friend and even protect you against bullies if I must. My family valued the traits of the Gargoyles. They were Loyal and strong and were protectors. I got your back Oz man."
He then smiled and held up his coke as if to make a toast. He then smiled at Ozzy and motioned for him to continue eating the cheese cake with a gentle smile.
"You seem pretty cool Ozzy, I don't see why your eating by yourself. So do you have any other people you hang out with?"

Oz man? What an odd name to give him. Last time he had checked he didn't know how to fly a hot air balloon nor did he call himself a wizard or live in a giant emerald city. But it was also much more welcoming than "sad bunny" as Mini the annoying runt had called him. Ozzy raised his iced tea bottle before taking a swig and putting it down. He than returned to the friendship cake and began eating, savoring each bite as he did.
He was content again and happy to have a friend. That is until his mood dropped again at the question of his other friends. Ozzy put the fork down and took a deep breath before answering. "I live in the shadows. My brothers, the schools, the worlds. No one notices me. I gave up trying. I became invisible and I started going out of my way to remain invisible. Mini notices me but I'm... I;m not happy she did. She's too loud for me. Hal noticed me too but... well I don't really do what he does. Otherwise I'm fairly invisible. I hang out with myself and I'm used to it.
Ozzy didn't dare bring up his friends at Shady Oak Nursing Home. What kid made friends with the elderly. He worried he would lose his new friend if he did. He didn't want to risk it. Besides no one except Professor Jinn knew about him and his nursing home visits and he planned to keep it that way as long as he could. And so he looked around, unable to look at his new friend and see the reaction to his admittance. He was a loner and pitiful and he had just admitted it to pretty much his only friend.

Goliath smiled and laughed a deep hard laugh when Ozzy said that he was a loner and that he stuck to the shadows. He didn't know who he was talking to. Goliath was the last of his clan and basicly only went out at night. Ozzy thought he was completly alone, He was far from it. Goliath just lifted up his shirt sleeve and showed the Tattoo of the Gargoyle on it.
"Ozzy, My family represented the Gargoyles. We never went out during the day. Only at night. We were warriors and protectors. We lived in a freaking Castle man. You think your alone? My entire family is dead. My castle destroyed. I am the last of my clan. I never go out during the day except for school. You and I are two of a kind."
Goliath then grinned stuck his thumb up at Ozzy with a gentle smile. The boy shouldn't feel so alone when in fact he just met a kindred spirit of the night. He just smiled and stood and walked over to Ozzy.
"I got your back man. We are kindred spirits. Your not alone anymore."

Ozzy was not sure how to react to all of this.On the one hand he was overjoyed to have a friend and someone to relate with him and to hang out with and talk to. On the other hand, Ozzy listened to his story and knew they were a bit different. Goliath had suffered death and loss for real. This could never change. Ozzy on the other hand had suffered a death in a hypothetical way. Everyone and everything was still around but Ozzy was forgotten among it. He had died from that family in a way that was different and that he felt Goliath would never fully understand.
Ozzy just kept eating his cake until there was nothing left and he was forced to face his friend. "Friends. I like the sound of that... So what now? As rediculous as it seemed, Ozzy wasn't sure how to react to this whole situation and therefore asked this question quite honestly as he had no clue what else to say or do. And so he sat there, a slight grin on his face, waiting to hear what Goliath had to say.

Goliath just grinned at Ozzy and shrugged gently as he tried to think of something to do with Ozzy. He sat back down and rested his head on his hand. He sighed as his mind drew a blank. He then just tapped his fingers on the tables and just shrugged again.
"Did you get all your homework done for our classes?"
As he went to ask another question however the bell rang and Goliath groaned. It was time for Goliath to go to Chorus class so he stood and picked up his back pack and smiled at Ozzy.
"Sorry man, I have to go to my Chorus class now. I'll catch up with you later buddy. Just remember to keep your head up OK? We will plan something to do later!"
Goliath then saluted Ozzy and turned and ran off. While he was running he smiled to himself because he had made a friend. What seemed like a true friend. Today was a very good day.
