He was taken into an orphanage when he was ten, the mother there was impressed at how smart he was even though he had never gone to school. He was a very quick learner and she decided that he would need to further his education past their one room school house at the orphanage. They filled out many applications for schools all over the world. He picked Yen Sid Academy in the end because they offered him a scholarship. The orphanage mother held fund raisers to earn enough money to fly him to the states and at the age of sixteen Hassan was off on the adventure of a lifetime.

Writing Sample: Severus inspected his blade throughly. It needed a good sharpening but it would do for now, it was sharp enough to get the job done for the time being. Careful he set it to the plant and waited for it to straighten against the feel of the blade. This particular plant was hard to deal with at times, it wiggled and squirmed, but if the blade was cold enough it would bristle against it and as long as you were quick you could slice a stalk without a fight. Severus slashed through the green and it's severed leaves shivered and feel limp. He stuffed them quickly into the vial he had brought to the greenhouse with him. With a curt thankful nod to Professor Sprout he left stashed his vial and blade into his cloak and headed out into the cold toward the front of the castle.
The cold air nipped at him, it was a tad colder than he had expected when he had left the castle and now he was really feeling it. He pulled his cloak closer to him and grumbled under his breath. The dungeons were drafty and cold, yes, but at least there he could keep a fire to stay warm. Winter weather was coming all too quickly. Hell, it wasn't even October yet!
He met the path in front of the castle a few minutes after he left the warm greenhouses and the sight of the great wooden doors gave him hope. He quickened his pace. It took him a moment to see a figure - a young man with white hair. Surely this student shouldn't be out of the castle. "You there." he called in a stern but lazy voice. As he approached he noticed something familiar about the figure. Sure there were a few features that were off but he was sure he knew this person. It wasn't until he identified the cat that he had mistakenly taken to be a scarf that he realized that he had been ready to chastise another professor. A bit of a blush rose to his checks, not so much that it couldn't be acreadited to the cold but enough to annoy the man.
"Ahhh," he voice drew out, "My mistake Professor Stohker. I thought you were a student. My apologies." he didn't sound very convincing but that was pretty normal.
Did you read the rules? Yes'm.
