Personality: Peg is a very shy, quiet girl who typically avoids other people. She’s not antisocial, and she can be extremely friendly if approached by someone, but due to her disability, most people tend to avoid her of make fun of her for being a mute. She’s a rather bright individual for one so trapped in the background, but she is very easily forgotten, even when she does something extraordinary; her best assets are her horseback riding and piano talents, and she is most often praised for these, though they are typically forgotten the next day.
Peg has very dreamy tendencies, and it’s no big surprise to find her wandering around the stables in a trance or laying in some random, completely awkward place (such as a ladder) just pondering life. This day-dreamy nature gives her a disturbing habit of staring at people without realizing.
Among friends, Peg is known for her wild gestures and sounds and can be very sarcastic, blowing raspberries or snorting when her friends do something stupid and gesturing madly during times of great anxiety. She does know sign language and has a board that she writes messages on, but more often than not, her mannerisms are enough to get the point across.
Where I Began

Other Relatives: None
Pets: Gateway to Heaven (Gateway) – Standard roan thoroughbred
Friends: Hester Rogan
History: Peg was, needless to say, a late bloomer in her family. She was the second of two children born to Peter and Melanie Spring. The doctor’s said that due to Melanie’s age, there was a possibility of birth defects in the child and of complications during childbirth. But the Springs went ahead with the pregnancy and nine months later, Peg was born. She seemed to be a perfectly healthy child: bubbly, playful, everything an infant was supposed to be. But she never spoke. Her parents just diagnosed it has her being shy and being slow to speak. After two years of her never uttering a word, Peg’s parents began to worry that something was wrong with their child. It was sixteen-year-old brother Christopher that posed the question of whether or not Peg might be mute. It was a nightmare for the older couple.
Peg underwent a series of tests and doctor visits, and it was finally determined that the girl would never speak. By some circumstance, most likely a complication of being born to an older couple, Peg was a mute.
It was a difficult lifestyle to say the least. Peg was sent to a special school for the disabled. While there, she met Hester, a deaf boy, and the two became dear friends. They did everything together, and Hester was the best friend Peg ever had. The two made up ridiculous schemes to run away and get married, which everyone seemed to think was the cutest thing ever. But it was not to last; when Peg was twelve, Hester told her he had to move because his mom found a new job and a better school for him. Peg was naturally heart-broken. But Hester promised her that one day they would both go to some special school and see each other again.
When Peg reached high school age, she and her parent moved to the United States so that Peg could attend Yen Sid Academy. The day before she was to start school, she received and unexpected phone call from Hester, and they realized they would both be attending the same school. The day school started, Peg was ecstatic: finally, she would be reunited with her old friend. But she never saw Hester. Only when she got home did her parents tell her that Hester had been in a terrible accident and passed away. Peg was devastated, but she vowed to be strong and live past her disability in honor of her friend.
